Plimoth Plantation’s
Foundations for Kids™ Program Guides

Make history a strong foundation for your school!

Each year, thousands of greater New England public school students and their teachers benefit from Plimoth Plantation’s Foundations for Kids program, which provides free field trip admissions and classroom programming for eligible schools.

Thanks to the generosity of foundation and charitable trust grants, funding is awarded through Plimoth Plantation’s Education Department to schools wishing to participate in field trips to the Wampanoag Homesite, the 1627 English Village, Crafts Center, Nye Barn and Mayflower II. For schools unable to afford the transportation costs of an onsite visit, classroom visits from Wampanoag or English Colonial museum educators are also available. Classroom visits can also serve as a valuable learning experience for students planning a field trip to the museum.

Preparatory learning materials developed by the museum’s Education Department are provided free with any classroom visit. These materials emphasize connections between Wampanoag and Colonial cultures - as well as historical and contemporary values. This multicultural approach to instruction is designed to fit within both Massachusetts and National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) standards-based education frameworks.

No grant applications are required to participate in this outstanding program; however, there are some eligibility requirements. For more detailed information, call the museum's Program Services Manager at (508) 746-1622, extension 8359 or contact her via email at programservices@plimoth.org.

Plimoth Plantation gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the Massachusetts-based foundations and charitable trusts listed below – all have demonstrated a long-term commitment to building Foundations for Kid. For heart-warming, illustrative examples of school children’s appreciation for the learning opportunities they have experienced through the museum’s Foundations for Kids program, be sure to visit our Kids Say Thanks web page.
