Best Times for Visiting: You will find that there is plenty to see and do no matter when you visit. However, many schoolchildren take part in our educational programs in the fall (mid-October through November) and spring (May through mid-June). The majority of schools visit in the morning. To avoid crowds, we suggest you try to plan your visit in the afternoon.
Brief site descriptions: In the 1627 ENGLISH VILLAGE you will encounter costumed role players, who portray the colonists of 1627 Plymouth. At the Wampanoag HOMESITE, Native staff in a 17th-century setting speak from a modern perspective about the history and culture of the Wampanoag People. At the CRAFTS CENTER you can watch modern-day artisans reproduce 17th-century household furnishings and clothing. In the Visitor Center is Thanksgiving: Memory, Myth & Meaning, the museum's newest exhibit. This exhibit explores the history of the Thanksgiving holiday. Three miles north of Plimoth Plantation, MAYFLOWER II is a re-creation of the type of ship that brought the colonists to Plymouth. Modern guides, maritime artisans, and costumed role players discuss the voyages of two historic Mayflowers.
How long to allow: Visitors typically spend about 3 hours at Plimoth Plantation and about 45 minutes at Mayflower II.
Climate/weather: New England weather is changeable. We suggest that you dress in layers, bring sunblock, a hat, and/or appropriate rain gear.
