In November 2020, Plimoth Patuxet received a transformational grant from the Lilly Endowment’s Religion and Cultural Institutions Initiative, an exploration of the role that religion has played in American history.
Through the Religion and Cultural Institutions Initiative support, over the course of two years, Plimoth Patuxet filmed fourteen short documentaries on the history of faith and spirituality in the 17th century. Shot on location in England, Holland, and at the Museum’s historic sites, the films will be released this year. The Lilly Endowment also funded the research, development, and delivery of new educational programs and performances as well as the installation of a digital studio with Livestream capacity for the creation and broad distribution of multimedia content on the history of religion.
Join Deputy Executive Director & Senior Historian, Richard Pickering, in conversation with Kate LaPrad, Deputy Director for Education & Strategic Partnerships; and Luke Ellis, Founder and Executive Producer of Workaholic Productions, as we debut three Lilly-funded films exploring the connection between the English Reformation, the ministry of John Robinson, and the influence of church covenants on the Mayflower Compact.
