Happy New Year from Mayflower!

Mayflower 12.18-2302

We hope 2019 is off to an auspicious start for all of our Mayflower II enthusiasts! It’s hard to believe that she is in the final stretch of her major restoration. It is truly a special year and one that marks the beginning of many historic occasions and anniversaries.

Over the coming months, you can expect more videos like this one as well as photos from the final phases of restoration that will transport you to the ship’s decks as they come back together, stronger than ever. We also invite you to save some important dates:

  • The 28th Annual WoodenBoat Show at Mystic Seaport Museum :: June 28-30, 2019 Come visit Mayflower as she nears completion, meet the ship’s captain and members of the restoration crew, and support the project!
  • Let History Ring! Casting Mayflower II‘s New Bell :: August 31 – September 1, Plimoth Plantation Don’t miss this festive weekend that kicks off an exciting series of homecoming events for our ship! Join us and the team from Verdin Bells as we cast a magnificent new bell for Mayflower for all to observe – from the passing of the ingots and a twilight bell pour to the breaking of the mold and ringing it for the first time. Enjoy food, music, activities for children, and special Museum programming.
  • Mayflower II‘s Official (Re) Launch :: September 7, 2019 at Mystic Seaport Museum With her new bell on board, Mayflower will be ready to move from the shiplift into Mystic River, a truly wonderful milestone! Be part of this special day, which will include a program of speakers, entertaining and educational programming, and the ceremonial bottle-breaking over the ship’s bow before she is lowered into the water.

As our restoration crew nears the project’s finish line, we hope you will consider helping us close out our fundraising goal for the ship! The average contribution to Plimoth Plantation is $100, but participation matters most – thank you for your gift of any size to the Mayflower II Restoration Project, which will enable the ship to fulfill her inspiring educational mission for generations to come.
