Position Summary
The Digital Studio Manager & Multimedia Producer (DSMMP) provides leadership and oversight for the Museum’s digital studio operations and multimedia production strategy. The DSMMP will steward and maintain the Museum’s digital studio, support departmental use of the studio for education programs and video production, produce video assets for marketing, and manage the museum's collection of multimedia assets.
The DSMMP exercises independent judgement and creative discretion in planning, producing, and directing multimedia projects. This role may coordinate project based contributors, vendors, or contractors as needed and is accountable for the quality, consistency, and strategic impact of the Museum’s multimedia output.
Essential Duties and Responsiblities
Digital Studio Operations
- Working with the Museum’s IT and digital media teams, create and implement organizational systems, workflows, and guidelines for use of the tools and equipment in the green screen studio in the Museum’s Henry Hornblower II Visitor Center.
- Oversee all operations of the studio. Maintain studio audio/video/lighting systems and equipment. Install, upgrade and manage company production hardware and software systems. Proactively research and recommend new hardware and software systems as needed.
- Support all virtual institutional programming, including virtual education visits and workshops, public programs, podcast production, filming of onsite public programs, and development/membership programs and events.
- Produce and execute live streaming events, including camera operation for live and live-to-tape content; operating a broadcast switcher, lighting green screen and talent, keying and compositing, editing video content and field camera operation.
- Coordinate logistics for both in-studio and field shoots, communicating as needed with other departments to implement requested content.
Asset Creation and Management
- In collaboration with the Deputy Director, Development and Marketing and Deputy Director, Education & Public Engagement, conceptualize and create new digital resources with a primary focus on the role of faith and spirituality in the lives of the people of Plimoth and Patuxet.
- Working with content departments and the Associate Director, Media Relations & Marketing, suggest and help develop content, process material, and publish videos and podcasts online for social media, advertisements, and educational materials.
General Responsiblities
Supports the Museum’s mission, vision, core values and customer service.
- Provides a friendly and welcoming presence for all guests and coworkers throughout the museum
- Performs all duties with attention to professionalism at all times.
- Ensures the continued success of Plimoth Patuxet Museums’ programs by being personally accountable.

Required Skills

- Highly specialized knowledge of live streaming, broadcasting, video production, and computing technology.
- Experience with green screen lighting and in-studio shoots including keying and compositing.
- Expert-level proficiency with Blackmagic hardware and software systems including:
- Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera operation
- Blackmagic Studio Camera operation
- Blackmagic ATEM Switcher operation
- DaVinci Resolve - Color Grading
- Audio recording and mixing.
- Experience working on Apple computers.
- Experience setting up a studio lighting grid with a DMX controller.
- Fluent in Adobe Creative Cloud Software including but not limited to:
- Adobe Premiere – Editing and Green Screen Compositing
- Adobe After Effects – Green Screen Compositing and Motion Graphics Creation
- Adobe Photoshop – Still Graphics Creation
- Familiarity with Livestreaming Platforms and software: Facebook/Instagram Live, YouTube, TikTok, X & Zoom.
- Two years’ experience crew and studio management preferred.
- Strong attention to detail is essential, as are project management and organizational skills. An ability to multitask, juggle multiple priorities and projects, and wear multiple hats is helpful.
- Interest in collaborating with colleagues in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
- Knowledge of video and audio file types and codecs.
- A valid drivers’ license is required.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma required. BA in a related field preferred.
- 2+ years’ relevant experience managing studio operations and developing successful digital content.
Strong interest in history and/or the history of religion is a plus.

Work Enviornment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Unless filming on location, work is generally performed within a studio environment, with standard equipment and climate control.
- Work may require standing and/or walking for up to 50% of the time. Some of the work involves being outside in the Museum’s historical exhibits where there are animals, dust, and smoke from hearth fires.
- The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
Additional Requirements
The Museum is open 7 days a week April through the end of November. You must be available to work Saturdays, Sundays and some holidays, including Thanksgiving Day. Typical hours during the Museum’s Open Season (March-November) are 9:00am - 5:00pm, five days a week through the end of November, and 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday from December through March. Flexibility in work hours and days off is required. Depending on the season, this position may include working additional night/weekend hours or days as needed.
Position Type and Salary
- Full-time, year-round
- $50,000 - $60,000 annually
