Crown Your Head: Sewing a 17th-Century Coif or Nightcap

Step back into the 17th century and create a historically inspired linen coif or nightcap in this hands-on sewing workshop.

Participants will cut and hand-sew an unembroidered linen cap while learning period-appropriate techniques such as hemming, felling, and insertion stitches.

In addition to sewing skills, the workshop will explore how coifs and nightcaps were worn and styled. Participants with long hair will also receive instruction in 17th-century hairstyling to complete the look.

Some sewing experience is required. Ages 14+. All tools and materials are included. Participants must select either a coif or nightcap option at the time of ticket purchase to ensure materials are prepared in advance.
