Artist Spotlight
Robert Peters | 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join Mashpee Wampanoag citizen, artist, author, and culture keeper Robert Peters for a special highlight of his children’s book Big Baby. Through storytelling and illustration, Peters brings the Wampanoag legendary figure Maushop to life from a playful new perspective, sharing the culture hero and giant who has been beloved and celebrated by Wampanoag families for generations. Following the story time, visitors are invited to learn more about Robert’s work and explore available art pieces in the Visitor Center Gallery.
Artist Highlight - Shaking Reeds Designs | 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Meet Shaking Reed’s Designs of the Akwesasne Mohawk Nation, contributing artist to Threads of Identity: Wampanoag Clothing Across Generations. Specially commissioned to create post-contact Wampanoag regalia, reflecting the incorporation of European trade materials, Shaking Reed’s will share her artistic style, inspiration, and creative practice with visitors.
