A Once-in-a-Generation Tourism Opportunity for Plymouth
Mayflower II brings America’s Hometown to Sail Boston—inviting millions to discover where the story truly begins.
Plymouth, Massachusetts (April 28, 2026) – This July, Mayflower II will sail from Plymouth Harbor to Boston, placing America’s Hometown, Plymouth, in front of an anticipated 5-7 million visitors during Sail Boston, and creating a powerful tourism and economic opportunity for local Plymouth businesses.
Timed with the 250th anniversary of American independence, Sail Boston (July 11 - 16) will transform Boston Harbor into a global destination, drawing millions of visitors from across the country and around the world. As one of the most iconic vessels in the fleet, Mayflower II will serve as a highly visible and emotionally resonant connection to Plymouth, inviting visitors to experience history in Boston and to continue their journey to the place where revolutionary ideas started long before 1776: Plymouth.
“Mayflower II is more than a historic vessel; she is Plymouth’s invitation to the world,” said Executive Director Tom Begley. “With millions gathering in Boston, we have an unprecedented opportunity to showcase Plymouth as an essential stop—where visitors can step beyond the story and experience it for themselves.”
Sponsorship packages for local Plymouth businesses have been designed to maximize visibility and tourism impact, with benefits that include brand exposure in Boston, on-site engagement opportunities, and alignment with one of the most significant public commemorations of the United States Semiquincentennial in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Most importantly, participation enables local businesses to convert regional attention into real visitation, encouraging travelers to explore Plymouth’s historic waterfront, cultural sites, and local economy.
