Media Alert: Plimoth Patuxet Museums Announces Shallop Tour of Southcoast and Islands

Event to take place as part of the ‘Blockade Runners’ program

Plymouth, Massachusetts (August 4, 2026) – Plimoth Patuxet Museums announced today that the Fuller Shallop, the Museum’s reproduction of the vessel stowed aboard Mayflower during her transatlantic crossing in 1620, will embark on a tour of ports along Massachusetts’ Southcoast and Islands.

The tour will take place as part of ‘Blockade Runners’, an event organized by The Westport Historical Society in commemoration of Revolution250 and Captain Paul Cuffe’s British blockade running during the Revolutionary War. At each port, visitors will be able to speak with Whit Perry, Captain of Mayflower II, and members of the Museum’s maritime team. Additionally, there will be special activities in each port arranged by local groups.

Port Stops and Public Hours Include: 

  • Westport Point - Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, 11 am - 3 pm
  • Padanaram Harbor  - Monday, August 17, 10 am - 2 pm
  • Cuttyhunk - Tuesday, August 18, 10 am - 8 pm, and Wednesday, August 19, 10 am - 12 pm
  • Nantucket - Friday, August 21, Time TBD

The Fuller Shallop will be away from her home berth in Plymouth Thursday, August 13, through Saturday, August 22, to participate in this remarkable event. She is expected to return to her place beside Mayflower II for regular viewing on Sunday, August 23. Mayflower II will maintain her regular hours and be open to visitors during this time in Plymouth.

Plimoth Patuxet Museums is open seven days a week, 9 am - 5 pm, now through the Sunday following Thanksgiving Day.
