Media Alert: Plimoth Patuxet Museums to Host April Vacation Kids’ Matinee

Family-friendly event featuring a screening of ‘The Lorax’ and hands-on gardening activity

Plymouth, Massachusetts (April 16, 2026) – Plimoth Patuxet Museums, the award-winning outdoor living history Museum, invites families to celebrate Earth Day during April Vacation with a special Kids’ Matinee on Wednesday, April 22, from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Plimoth Cinema.

The afternoon will feature a screening of ‘The Lorax’, a film based on the beloved Dr. Seuss children’s book. The story follows Ted on a quest to find a Truffula tree and the Lorax’s message about caring for the natural world.

Following the film, young learners will take part in a hands-on gardening activity by planting their own bean plant to take home with them, underscoring the importance of caring for the environment.

Plimoth Patuxet Museums is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through the Sunday following Thanksgiving Day. Mayflower II—currently undergoing routine maintenance at Mystic Seaport Museum’s Henry B. duPont Preservation Shipyard—is anticipated to return to State Pier later this Spring.
