Plimoth Patuxet Invites the Community to Participate in a 17th-Century Wedding Celebration
Event will take place on select dates throughout the summer
Plymouth, Massachusetts (July 22, 2026) – Love, history, and education come together this summer as Plimoth Patuxet Museums invites guests to witness one of Plymouth Colony's most joyful occasions during The Wedding of Mary Warren & Robert Bartlett. Through immersive living history, visitors become part of a 17th-century wedding celebration inspired by the real marriage of two early Plymouth colonists.
"The Wedding of Mary Warren & Robert Bartlett is one of our most engaging living history experiences because it invites visitors to celebrate alongside the people of Plymouth Colony," said Kathy Rudder, Guest Experience Manager of the Craft Center. "It's an opportunity to see history come alive through music, dance, food, and community while learning about the lives of the men and women who lived in Plymouth Colony."
Taking place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on select dates throughout the summer, the all-day event transforms the Museum's 17th-Century English Village into a bustling wedding scene, where guests are encouraged to lend a hand with preparations before joining the festivities.
Throughout the day, visitors can help decorate for the occasion, prepare foods for the wedding feast, create flower crowns, learn traditional dances, and discover the customs and community spirit that surrounded marriage in early colonial New England. The day culminates with the wedding ceremony at 4 p.m. on the Village Green, followed by singing, dancing, games, and merriment shared by colonists and visitors alike.
“Through first-person historical interpretation, guests experience history as participants rather than spectators,” said Adam Coyle, Guest Experience Manager, 17th-Century English Village. “We’re excited to share this immersive experience with our guests and hope that it fosters a deeper understanding of the people who once lived and worked along these shores.”
Admission to all wedding activities is included with general admission to Plimoth Patuxet. The event is designed for visitors of all ages and offers a memorable blend of education, entertainment, and hands-on participation.

Plimoth Patuxet Museums is open seven days a week, 9 am - 5 pm, now through the Sunday following Thanksgiving Day.
