Institutional Giving Coordinator

Position Summary

Plimoth Patuxet Museums seeks an Institutional Giving Coordinator (IGC) who will be a critical member of the organization’s fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Development & Marketing and working closely with the Deputy Director, Special Projects & Strategic Partnerships, the IGC is an integral role to the organization and its long-term goal to annually increase grant support through private and public opportunities. They will work with senior members of the Leadership Team to help secure grant funding, in addition to keeping track of grant income and expenses throughout the fiscal year to meet report deadlines and keep PPM’s institutional supporters informed and up-to-date. The IGC is an excellent opportunity for a professional with 1-2 years of fundraising and/or grant experience to enhance their nonprofit acumen at a world-renowned cultural organization, or a recent graduate looking to learn more about philanthropy at a world-renowned living history museum

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Museum’s grant portfolio, coordinate strategy, help to author and review proposals and reports, and oversee institutional prospect research.

  • Maintain grant files and accurate records in the Museum’s database. Generate reports, maintain proposals and report calendars.

  • Communicate grant updates and requirements with internal and external constituents. Ensure compliance with funding requirements. Maintain and strengthen existing relationships with institutions and donors.

  • Monitor and track data for all grants received, in collaboration with the Museums’ Finance Department.

  • With input from the Executive Leadership Team and other colleagues, develop and submit letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports. Prepare proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approval.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license to drive between the Museums’ historic sites (about 3 miles).

Education and Experience

  • BA or BS preferred.

  • 1-2 years of experience in a nonprofit development office.

  • Experience working with, and familiarity with, foundations and government agencies serving cultural and educational sectors is preferred.

Work Environment

  • Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment.

  • The noise level in the work environment is relatively quiet.

  • While the position is standard M-F business hours, some flexibility in schedule is needed for special events, and/or deadlines.

Additional Requirements

This position is 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday with an hour-long lunch break. Some flexibility is required for occasional weekend and/or evening events and upcoming grant and printing deadlines.

The Museum is open 7 days a week March through the end of November. During the Museum's open season, certain staff are required to work on some of the Holidays (Thanksgiving is an “all-hands on'' day). Whenever working on a holiday is necessary, a manager will inform employees at least one week in advance if they’re expected to work on a holiday.

The Museum may also schedule "all-hands on" days such as Indigenous People's Day/Columbus Day and Thanksgiving. Advance notice will be given for "all-hands on" days.
