A Festive Celebration of Creativity, Community & Culture

This December, Plimoth Patuxet Museums welcomed hundreds of visitors to its third annual Winter Fine Arts & Craft Fair, a vibrant celebration of local artistry, cultural traditions, and seasonal community spirit. Over two delightful days — Saturday, December 6, and Sunday, December 7 — the Museum’s Hornblower Visitor Center and campus came alive with creativity, community, and holiday cheer.

Fairgoers were greeted by a marketplace featuring 85 talented artists and makers from across New England, offering an array of handmade treasures perfect for holiday gifting. From fine jewelry and ceramics to woodwork, textiles, and original fine art, the range of work highlighted the region’s rich creative talent. 22 Indigenous artisans participated, bringing deeply rooted cultural traditions and contemporary expressions to the event.

Visitors had the opportunity to meet makers, learn about their creative processes, and purchase one-of-a-kind pieces that reflected both personal expression and community heritage.

Cultural Performances with Wetu Ways

Cultural performances by Wetu Ways, a Northeast Indigenous cultural collective founded by Keon “Sookunôn” Jackson (Mashpee Wampanoag) and Crystal “Naqúut Wusqhun” Treadwell (Unkechaug Nation) were a powerful additional to the event. Through song, dance, and storytelling, Wetu Ways engaged audiences with traditions that honor the resilience and lifeways of Eastern Woodlands Peoples. Demonstrations took place at multiple times on both days, offering many chances for visitors to experience these moving cultural expressions.

Seasonal Cheer & Community Connections

This year’s Winter Fair also featured some new festive elements that enhanced the holiday spirit. Second Wind Brewing Company hosted a winter beer garden on site, where guests could enjoy a selection of seasonal brews alongside hot cocoa and warm conversation amid the creative bustle. Local singer/songwriter Abby Vail delighted guests with her talent and celebrated chef Stephen Coe added culinary treats with his Lobsta Love food truck.

"It was an honor to organize the third annual Winter Fine Arts & Craft Fair," said Christina Basler, Director of Education and Group Programs. "The Winter Fair has blossomed into a cherished community gathering that brings together local artists, Indigenous culture keepers, musicians, and visitors to celebrate the season."
