Congratulations to Chef Sherry Pocknett
Plimoth Patuxet extends heartfelt congratulations to Sherry Pocknett (Mashpee Wampanoag), who became the first Indigenous woman to be recognized and honored with an award from the James Beard Foundation!
On June 4, 2023, Sherry won a prestigious James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Northeast – and made culinary history.
Throughout the years at Plimoth Patuxet, Chef Sherry has been an inspiring and generous collaborator, bringing her expertise of Wampanoag foodways to the Museum. Chef Sherry owns Sly Fox Den Too, a Charlestown, Rhode Island, restaurant that specializes in Indigenous cuisine and culture.
