THE HISTORY OF SOUND Screening and Discussion with Chris Cooper Gallery
Plimoth Cinema hosted a captivating evening to premiere THE HISTORY OF SOUND. This powerful and moving film explores themes of love, memory, and connection during a pivotal moment in history. A discussion with Chris Cooper followed the screening, and guests heard about the intense research behind his spellbinding roles.

On Friday, September 19th, Plimoth Cinema welcomed over 200 guests to the Maxwell Theater to premiere The History of Sound. Set against the backdrop of World War I, the story follows two young men as they embark on a journey to record the voices and songs of their countrymen, discovering themselves and each other along the way.
Following the film, Academy Award-winning actor and friend of Plimoth Cinema, Chris Cooper, answered questions from the audience and moderator and Plimoth Cinema patron, Ed Russell. From personal family experiences to intense research, guests enjoyed hearing about the craft that is behind Cooper's impressive body of work. Russell hosted a lively Q & A that also included commentary from Marianne Leone Cooper, an accomplished actor and writer as well as an integral part of her husband's behind-the-scenes script selections. There were moments of great laughter, immense sentiment, and the right pinch of star-struck that resulted in a memorable evening for our guests and Plimoth Cinema.
Delightfully, it was a sold out evening, and proceeds from ticket sales support Plimoth Patuxet Museums' educational mission. Following the premiere, the film will be shown at Plimoth Cinema. The Museum and Cinema are ever grateful to our Cinema patrons, Charlotte and Ed Russell, and Marianne Leone and Chris Cooper for making the evening possible.
