Launching the 2024 Indigenous Voices Series
With support from the Town of Plymouth Promotions Fund and the Visitors Services Bureau, Plimoth Patuxet welcomed LONE WOLF and The Spaghetti Corner Band for a free community concert along the historic Eel River.
Plimoth Patuxet Museums welcomed the public on Thursday, July 18, as they launched 2024’s Indigenous Voices Series with a free community concert featuring LONE WOLF and The Spaghetti Corner Band, a trio from the Akwesane Mohawk reservation. The concert was free and open to the public thanks to the generous support of the Town of Plymouth Promotions Fund and the Town's Visitors Services Bureau.
LONE WOLF and The Spaghetti Corner Band trio comprises guitarist DJ White, bassist Bobby Jacobs, and drummer Will Jacobs. This was their second trip to Plymouth, Massachusetts, to perform at the Museum, after having debuted at the Winter Fine Arts & Crafts Fair in December 2023. They were an immediate hit with Plimoth Patuxet’s members and visitors.
The Museum was pleased to welcome the Band back to perform a second time for the community, increasing public access to programming that amplifies Indigenous performers. They played a range of self-written and covered folks, blues, and rock songs at Plimoth Patuxet's outdoor Eel River stage, adjacent to the Peabody Pavilion.
"We are delighted to provide this free concert," said Executive Director Ellie Donovan, reflecting on the inaugural event of 2024's Indigenous Voices Series. "As an educational non-profit where everyone is welcome at our table, we hope this special event provided an opportunity for old friends and new to join us in celebrating Indigenous voices, culture, and art."
LONE WOLF and The Spaghetti Corner Band Performs at Plimoth Patuxet
2024's Indigenous Voices Series is a continuation of Plimoth Patuxet's 2023 Indigenous Voices: Celebrating 50 Years of Plimoth Patuxet's Wampanoag Indigenous Program. The goal of this series is to create opportunities for Indigenous performers from throughout the Eastern Woodlands region to connect with diverse audiences through free and low-cost public programming. In 2023, Plymouth County residents along with visitors from around the country engaged with 10,000 years of Indigenous heritage through this cultural series.
For over 50 years, the Museum has told the interwoven stories of the Indigenous and European people who met along these shores of change in the 17th century. With the Indigenous Voices Series, Plimoth Patutuxet is proud to expand upon this legacy by building relationships with contemporary Indigenous artists and educators through their art while serving the public with vibrant cultural offerings.
